Story time

Ajay one of our first EP came back from India!! This is his story:

India is truly an incredible country; I have come for my internship with AISECS in this county and especially in the north of India a place called as Jalandhar this is in the state of Punjab. It is an amazing state whereby I can call it the green state there are lot of vegetation in this state and here you can enjoy the Punjab culture. People in this state are extremely good hearted. I have reached this state on the 11 of July and stared to work in the Dav police public school. Here I am supposed to teach psychology, Tourism and leadership. I was a bit afraid as it was my first time teaching in a foreign country. However here the teachers are extremely helpful they guide me how to teach in the class. There are good student in this school whereby they interact and participant through the whole classes. They even come to meet me after the classes to ask me question about the topic I cover in the class. This interaction with them has boost up my spirit and confidence in me. I believed that this would be one of my best memorial day in my life. Through AISECS I have been able to meet more friends like from china, Estonia, Slovakia, Portugal and many other countries and by meeting them I have a learn a lots of things from each one of them in term of culture and personality of different people. By meeting those different people I have been able to developed and but in practice my leadership skill here. i believed that when you join AISECS we become a part of this great family and the people you meet there will always make your live and that this friendship will remain forever. As when we come for an internship with AISECS we remain a part of it.

Students doing recruitment at UTM

  • Preben Punchoo (Beng telecomunication)

PREBEN PUNCHOO, commonly known as ‘Ben’, is a 23 years old, second year student in Beng. Engineering in telecommunication. He takes a keen interest in football, sports in general, watching films and documentaries, photography and reading.

Ben adopts a laid-back attitude- he seems carefree and his aim in life is ‘to live simply’, but he also knows when to get serious especially if work need to be done. Sociable, Ben likes to talk to other people, get to know their way of thinking. As such, he aspires to travel around the world, meet different people from different cultures, live and learn with them.

All the while, the ‘human touch’ is always present in everything he does. He likes helping people. It is therefore to no surprise that he is an adherent in organizations which have social concern on the agenda. For example, Ben is a member of the ‘Keep It Safe Society’-an NGO working for sexual education of youths in Mauritius and sensitizing them on sexually transmitted diseases. Ben is also a member of a local association-‘Fraternité Quartier’ which works for the welfare of the local region and the people living in the community. Whenever someone needs help, you can always count on Ben! He is motivated when he sees “the smile on the face of a person I’ve helped.”

Ben learned about AIESEC from friends.

They all joined AIESEC last year (2009) and went for an amazing internship to India. I was often in contact with them, and heard their daily stories, how they lived, their friends out there, how they live as a group...
At that moment, I resolved to try to be part of AIESEC, on the next intake.

His determination finally secured him a place in AIESEC UTM.

I’m proud to be part of the largest student organization in the world.

  • Nabiilah Timol (Management with Law)

NABIILAH TIMOL, 19 years old, is a first year student in BSc. Management with Law. Calm, composed and often pensive, Nabiilah has also a sweet personality. She loves ‘mountain-gazing’, literature, theatrical drama-plays and hanging out with friends.

Nabiilah is committed to what she values and will never let down those who matters to her. Once you get to know her, you realize she is friendly, true to herself and has a different ways of thinking-she does not go along with the flow but instead has her own point of view.

Nabiilah came to know about AIESEC in the media when it was doing a coverage on AIESEC University of Mauritius. When AIESEC came to UTM, she decided to grab this opportunity to join in.

At first, I applied for AIESEC UTM just for fun and to know how it was.

After countless participation in debates, contests and public speaking competitions in high school, applying for membership in AIESEC UTM seemed at that time a natural succession to extra-curricular activities involvement.

When I was selected and gradually got to know AIESEC better, I felt I had done the right choice in applying. In addition to leadership and self-development opportunities, AIESEC offers much more than I had imagined.

Nabiilah strongly feels that being an AIESECer will allow her to stretch her potential and make her aware of her abilities and skills so that in future she can contribute positively to those around her, her friends and the community as a whole.

I’m proud to be an AIESECer!

  • Umme Murtuza (Tourism and Hospitality Management)

UMME MURTUZA, 21 years old, is in her second year in BSc. Tourism and Hospitality Management. Bubbly, charismatic with an outgoing personality, Umme can adapt herself easily in whatever situation or place she is in. A real shoe shopachoholic, Umme’s other hobbies include reading and surfing on the net.

Fashionista to the core and her instant smile accentuated with dimples were not the reasons why she gained membership in AIESEC, though! Umme has a warm personality. Emphatic and open-minded, she is able to relate well with others-a trait she has acquired while doing lot of social work.

Umme came to know about AIESEC from ‘Facebook’ and joined in as a member “ for leadership skills and for helping my generation.

I feel great (to be an AIESECer)! It is as if I have a group now! When I meet other AIESECers I feel so good to know that almost all around the word there are AIESECers like me- it’s like a community.

Driven by the motivating factor of “ the result we will have after a good work”, Umme aims at doing her best for AIESEC UTM.

  • Andy Yu Wai Man (Tourism and Hospitality Management)

  • Khadija Ghoulamghoss (Human Resource Management)#
  • David Blais (Computer Science with Network security)
  • ALAN DAVID BLAIS, 22 years old, is a first year student in BSc. Computer Science with Network Security. Friendly, joyful and optimistic, David is the kind of person who knows how to take the best out of life and balances his studies with his personal life.

David is a member of Red Cross and Amnesty International and is deeply involved in athletics. He was several times best athlete in inter-college, twice Captain of a national team and participated in the World Youth Athletic Championship. His achievements speak of himself!

David came to know about AIESEC at some stalls in UTM and decided to join in as it represented a chance for him to develop his abilities, skills and acquire professional as well as life experience. Now that he is in, words are not enough to describe the privilege and pride he feels in being an AIESECer.

Heralding the AIESEC UTM team, David’s goals are clear.

Like any leader or manager, the most important is result and, personally, I think that if everyone works for it then I can say with no doubt that my team will give great results.

Once you are an AIESECer, it’s for life!

    Rock Your Life

    Do it the AIESEC way!
